If you’ve been at Evans for any period of time, there’s a very good chance that you’ve run into Scotty McIntee. While he has worked in maintenance at Evans for more than 9 years, Scotty takes care of many other projects, throughout all the seasons. He’s the Fix-It guy at Evans, and he’s not afraid to take any project thrown his way. In the wintertime, you’ll see Scotty plowing snow at Evans’ buildings at all hours of the night. In the summertime, Scotty keeps the grounds groomed. And all year-round, he cleans, paints, fixes and gives makeovers to work areas and bathrooms, and even moves materials around with a Hi-Lo when necessary.
Scotty enjoys working for Evans because of the family atmosphere, the relationships he has with all levels of management, and his coworkers. Scotty considers Evans his second home—he mentions that he and his family will never forget the overwhelming support the company and employees showed them when his wife passed away. Scotty is a single, committed, and proud father of three: Joshua (23), Jacob (19), and Jenna (15). When he’s not putting in countless hours at Evans, Scotty enjoys spending time with his children, hunting and fishing. His big challenge this year is to take his daughter along hunting, but he knows she’s up for it.
Management has complete confidence that Scotty is capable of doing anything he’s asked, and more. Instead of bringing in skilled trades workers to do major repairs to the Ryder bathroom, “Scotty told me he could do all the repairs, and a week later Scotty got it done, and while doing so saved the company thousands of dollars,” says Chris Mendez. Scotty was also instrumental in the successful Value-Added packaging season this past summer. Educating himself on the maintenance and repair needed for the new conveyance machinery, Scotty was at the line to help squash any breakdowns and extended delay, while the line ran 10 hours a day, 6 days a week, for 6 weeks.
What Scotty likes best about his position? The responsibility he is given and the trust that leadership has in him to get the job done. He appreciates the continual challenge of new projects, and the ability to show others there’s little he can’t do. “Scotty gets pulled in many different directions and always keeps a positive attitude,” says Pat Bledsoe. We’re proud to feature such a multi-talented employee in this month’s Employee Spotlight, and lucky to have Scotty on our team.
