Quarantine and Isolation Requirements for Employees

For Employees Who are Positive for COVID-19 or had Close Contact with Someone Positive for COVID-19

A Quarantine is required when you have close contact with someone who has tested positive for COVID-19. Close contact is defined as being within 6-feet of someone for a cumulative total of 15 minutes or more in a 24-hour period. 

Isolation is required when you are sick or when you have COVID-19, even if you don’t have symptoms.

 

Quarantine Guidelines for Close Contact

If you are up-to-date on COVID-19 vaccinations* and you do not have symptoms, a quarantine is not necessary. You are required to:

  • Wear a mask at work for 10 days after exposure. Day 1 is the day after you were exposed.
  • Monitor yourself for symptoms.

If you have recovered from COVID-19 in the past 90 days and do not have symptoms, a quarantine is not necessary. You are required to:

  • Wear a mask at work for 10 days after exposure. Day 1 is the day after you were exposed.
  • Monitor yourself for symptoms.

If you are not up-to-date on COVID-19 vaccinations* a 5-day quarantine is required.  You are required to:

  • Begin quarantine immediately after close contact has been established. Day 1 is the day after you were exposed.
  • Take a PCR test within the first 5 days of exposure. Send the results to Human Resources after they have been received.
    • If the PCR results are negative, return to work on Day 6 and wear a mask.
    • If the PCR results are positive, follow the Isolation Guidelines.

* Up-to-date on COVID-19 vaccinations* is defined as:  you have received all recommended COVID-19 vaccines, including any booster dose(s) when eligible.

 

Isolation Guidelines for COVID-19 Positive Employees

If you tested positive for COVID-19, Isolation is required regardless of vaccination status.

  • Isolate at home for 5 days. Day 1 of isolation is the day after your symptoms developed or had a positive COVID-19 test.
  • If you are fever free for 24 hours (without the use of fever-reducing medication) and symptoms are improving, you may return to work on Day 6 and must wear a mask through Day 10.
  • If you did not have symptoms, you may return to work on Day 6 and must wear a mask through Day 10.
  • If you are severely ill with COVID-19, you must isolate for 10 days and obtain a doctor’s note stating when you can return to work.
