Describe your position at Evans.
This is a new position for me! Previously, I was working as a transportation dispatcher on the night shift. Now I’m in charge of keeping the trailer fleet organized by our electronic tracking system and managing the customer trailer pools. I’m also responsible for trailer inspections and maintenance. The goal is to reduce our trailer costs and keep them operating at full capacity.
What have you gained from working at Evans or what have you learned in this role?
Something that I have learned in the short time since starting here is that quality leaders come in many different forms.
Where is the likeliest place/activity that we would find you outside of work?
At the disc golf course! I absolutely love it. I was walking my dog one day and found a course and decided to research the game. I bought a starter pack and now I’m hooked. I play competitively in tournaments. I love it because it’s great exercise and Zoey, my dog, can play with me. She loves it too.
What are your top three life highlights or top highlights at Evans?
- Road trip! Zoey and I took a spontaneous cross-country road trip—no plan at all. We hit the West coast states and it was great to see so much of the U.S. that I had never seen before.
- This opportunity to work at Evans. I’m grateful to have support and guidance from an awesome team behind me.
- The day I adopted Zoey from the Dearborn Animal Shelter. That was 10 years ago, and she has changed my life in the best way possible.
What is your best Halloween costume or what do you plan to dress up as this year?
I haven’t dressed up in years, but I remember my mom dressing me as an evil surgeon and everyone got a kick out of it.
What’s the best advice you’ve ever been given?
The best work-related advice I have ever received was how to ask good questions in order to get the right answers.
Comments from his manager, Nick Cardone: “Jaron has been a huge asset to our team. He’s a self-starter that takes ownership of his work and follows through to the very end. We’re lucky to have him in this new role and I’m confident he will be successful.”
