Tell us a bit about yourself.
I’m 21 years old and I live in Lincoln Park. In addition to my role at Evans, I’m also working toward an accounting degree from Wayne State University. I like accounting because I enjoy working with numbers and data, and my goal is to own a business one day.
I would love to go to Hawaii. I’ve heard great things about it—from the volcanoes, hiking, and black sand beaches. It seems like a place I would love to experience.
Describe your job at Evans Distribution.
As a Logistics Specialist, I’m responsible for tracking containers as they arrive and communicating their status to customers, drivers, and our warehouses. When a container arrives, I arrange delivery appointments quickly so there are no additional storage fees at the port or yard. I also manage empty container returns.
What do you like most about working for Evans Distribution or about your job?
Every day is a different challenge. For example, containers might be damaged or there are too many loads that come in at one time. I make sure things are running smoothly. Also, this is my first job in logistics, and I feel fortunate to have learned a lot in a short time.
What movies/shows are you streaming right now?
Scary movies! I’m watching the sequel to Insidious. The first movie was about a little boy who was taken over by a demon. I like the combination of horror and mystery.
Where is your favorite place to travel and why?
Words from my manager, Deanna Smith: “Kaitlyn always takes projects from conception to completion; no matter the storm in transportation. She stays calm and focuses on service and quality. She brings a healthy perspective to our team. Also, her work ethic is out of this world! She’s been at Evans for almost two years, and she has perfect attendance.”

Tell us a bit about yourself.
I am 20 years old and I live in Melvindale. My sister recently got a black Chihuahua puppy even though my mom said we couldn’t have any more dogs. I also have a guinea pig and a parakeet. I love shopping and listening to music in my car. It helps me relieve stress!
Describe your job at Evans Distribution.
As a Logistics Specialist, I track containers and keep our spreadsheets up to date. I use the ocean carrier or rail yard websites to track the containers. Once I receive ETAs, I communicate them with the drivers at Giaco and the CSRs. I also provide a morning and afternoon update with the latest spreadsheet.
What’s your most memorable moment or project so far at Evans?
My first quarterly meeting! It was at the axe-throwing venue. I had only been with the company a couple of days, and I decided to attend in order to meet more people outside of my department. It was fun and it helped me get to know people!
Name a summer activity that you’re most likely to miss or a winter activity that you’re looking forward to.
Sledding! I was too scared to go until I tried it last year and it was fun. I loved the adrenaline rush!
Name something on your bucket list.
Traveling through Europe. I would love to experience a culture that is different from my own. I don’t always have a chance to get out of my comfort zone.
What was the last show/concert that you went to?
I saw Pitbull last year in Clarkston. I went with my friends even though I don’t normally listen to his music. I loved his energy and the crowd vibe.
Words from my manager, Deanna Smith: “Keylen is consistently so cheerful and helpful to our customers. No matter how challenging the issue is, she always leaves them better off than when they started. Her work ethic is enviable. She’s the definition of a TEAM PLAYER! Having her on the team makes a positive impact on everyone.”
