December 2022 W.I.S.E. Award – Sean Kirkwood

Tell us a bit about yourself.

I graduated from Wayne State in 2015. I have a cat named Nala and she’s great. She doesn’t like anyone else but me, so a lot of people don’t get to see her awesome personality. I’m a homebody and enjoy staying in and watching my shows and movies. I’m a big anime nerd. If I do go out, I like going to concerts with my friends. There was a time when we were going to a show every weekend. It was a lot of fun and we saw some great performances.

How has Evans helped you with your career development?

This is my first marketing job so everything I have learned has been here. Evans provides me with the resources and support

needed to continue my professional development.

What has your experience been with our company culture?

My experience with the Evans culture has been great. Everyone is friendly and wants to talk to you. I enjoy attending the quarterly meetings and hanging out with peers that you don’t see on a day-to-day basis.

What has been your favorite memory at Evans?

My favorite memory at Evans is the 2019 Holiday Party when we did the Murder Mystery. I was selected to be an actor and won an award for Best Actor. I had a lot of fun that year and the party bus was a good time.

If you could be any type of dog, what breed would you be and why?

I would be a Scottish Terrier. They’re a very iconic dog. They have a cool look to them and they’re hypoallergenic which is good

because my girlfriend is allergic to dogs.

What is the most spontaneous thing you have ever done?

My friends and I took a 2-day trip to Ohio to follow our favorite band, In Fear and Faith, on tour. We saw their shows on Friday and Saturday and hung out with them after each one. We also went to the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in between the shows. It was a fun trip and I’d love to do it again.

How would you survive a zombie apocalypse?

The first thing I would do is round up my family and friends. Then we would barricade ourselves at Lowe’s. It has all the tools and supplies needed to defend yourself and there’s a gardening section so you can grow food. The Lowe’s I would barricade us in, is next to a Meijer so I would zombie proof a car so we can make grocery runs. I believe it’s safe to say that we would have a good chance at survival.

Comments from his manager, Morgan Zenner:

“Sean has come a long way since his early days as a Marketing Intern! He continues to impress me with his ability to develop new technical skills and improve our processes. For example, Sean was the project leader of the new Eddie 2.0 website—a communication tool that stands to benefit all of us. Please join me in congratulating Sean for an amazing new site and this deserving recognition. Congrats!”
