January 2024 W.I.S.E. Award – Stacy Irish

What is working at Evans like?

It is like being part of a family. I appreciate the consistent recognition; it really means a lot to me. In my previous job of 17 years, I received only one raise, and despite going above and beyond, there was little acknowledgment or support. So, the recognition for the extra effort really makes a significant difference.

What has been your favorite account or project at Evans?

I really enjoy working on the RoboVent account. RoboVent came onboard right around the time I started at Evans. I’ve had the opportunity to build a great relationship with them. They trust my decisions and we work well together. It makes me sad to know that they are leaving.

What are your hopes for our industry?

The continued success of supply chain.

What do you enjoy most about your colleagues?

I’m fortunate to have an amazing team to work with. We always support one another, and we can rely on each other for backup. We’re constantly learning new things from one another as well.

What are some things you’ve noticed about our leadership team?

All of the managers are fair and approachable and have an open-door policy no matter the issue. You are never treated like just another employee; your overall wellbeing is important to them.

How have you grown professionally while on our team?

I’ve learned a lot about how the whole supply chain works by talking to customers and working in the shipping industry. Communicating with customers helps me understand what they need, and being in the shipping industry gives me a broader picture of how everything in the supply chain fits together.

What has your experience been with our company culture?

I love being part of the Evans team—it’s more than just work; it’s a great experience. I’ve not only gained valuable colleagues but also made some good friends along the way.

What three qualities describe your personality best?

I would say I’m loyal, empathetic, and sometimes a bit stubborn.

What is something people don’t know about you?

I tend to wear my heart on my sleeve. Even if I don’t always express my feelings outwardly, things tend to affect me more than I let on. I also really like helping people when they’re going through hard times. Whether it’s just listening, comforting them, or finding solutions; being there for others makes me feel good.

What’s the number one thing on your bucket list?

Visiting Ireland! It has beautiful landscapes and a very interesting history. I would love to experience the unique culture and traditions there.

What’s your favorite line from a movie?

The Princess Bride – Have fun storming the castle!!!!

Where is your favorite place to eat?

Amigo’s Mexican Restaurant- I love their bean burritos and guacamole. Their guacamole doesn’t have cilantro, which is great because I am not a fan of it.

What would the title of your autobiography be and why?

“What You See is What You Get.” This title reflects my journey of learning to trust myself and be real, so others can see the real me.

Name 2 people alive or dead that you would want to cook dinner for.

My mom who was always proud that I learned to cook.

My brother because he enjoyed eating everything.

How do you define success in your life?

For me, it is defined by the fact that I’ve raised my kids to become good, responsible adults, and that overall, I’m content with the life I’ve built for myself.

What is your proudest moment?

Watching my daughter graduate from high school. It was a big achievement for her, and as a parent, I felt really proud to see her reach that important milestone.

What’s the most adventurous thing you’ve ever done or would like to do?

I went ziplining (even though I’m scared of heights) and it was absolutely amazing!

What would you do if you won a million dollars?

I would buy a big plot of land out West and start an animal shelter. It wouldn’t matter how many dogs, cows, or cats needed help—I’d look after all of them. I’d have a whole team of vets to make sure they’re well taken care of. It’d be a safe place for animals, sort of like a refuge.
