Tell us a bit about yourself.
When I was 21 years old, my brother-in-law helped me get my CDL-A license and he hired me to drive for his company. Thirteen years later, I manage four trucks and a full-time position with Alden Logistics. The things most near and dear to my heart are having a positive work ethic and being a good family man to my wife and two young sons.
Describe your job at Evans Distribution.
I bring hot shot or replacement auto parts from Motherson, formerly SAS Interior Modules, to the Sterling Heights Assembly Plant (SHAP). My typical day starts at 4 a.m. and includes 6-7 shuttles, every 90 minutes, six days a week.
What do you like most about your job?
Many might think working 12-hour days is hard, but I enjoy the freedom and independence of my job. I’ve built trust over the last five years, and most people appreciate the reliability and knowledge that I bring to work every day. I enjoy the routine schedule but I’m also mindful of time-sensitive loads.
Where would we find you outside of work?
I have a strong focus on work/life balance. At the end of my workday, I have 5 hours to spend with my family before I go to bed. We love to travel as a family—we’ve gone to St. Petersburg, Chicago, Washington D.C., etc. My sons love to watch and interact with animals, so we always visit the zoo on vacation. It’s fun to see them make a discovery or realization for the first time! Those memories give me joy.
If you were a collector, what would you collect?
I am a collector! I buy shot glasses in every city that I visit. I also have a collection of vintage Disney and cartoon action figures. I have Bugs Bunny, Daffy Duck, Elmer Fudd, and Road Runner, just to name a few.
What is your favorite place to eat?
I love steak and a traditional Eastern European beetroot soup, known as Borscht. My wife is from Russia and the recipe has been in her family for many years. It’s delicious!
What superhero would you choose for yourself?
I’d like to be Hulk. He’s a scientific genius and he has super-human strength.
What’s something on your bucket list?
Travel to all seven continents.
